Maintenance Tips

Clean Regularly (But Gently)

    • Wipe with a Soft Cloth: After every use, give your Hibacci’s a quick wipe-down with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and dust.
    • Leather Cleaner: Use a gentle leather cleaner to remove stubborn stains or grime. Apply it with a soft cloth and buff the leather in circular motions.
    • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Stay away from bleach or strong detergents that can damage the leather.

    Condition the Leather

      • Leather can dry out over time, so use a leather conditioner every couple of months to keep it soft and supple. Look for a product that's free of alcohol or wax to avoid drying out the material.
      • Application: Use a soft cloth to apply the conditioner in small, circular motions. Be sure to test on a small, hidden area first.

      Protect the Leather

        • Waterproofing: If you're often out in the rain, consider using a water-repellent spray designed for leather. This helps prevent water spots and keeps the leather from absorbing moisture, which can cause staining or damage.
        • UV Protection: Some leather conditioners and sprays come with UV protection, which can prevent the leather from fading due to sun exposure.

        Keep Them in Shape

          • Shoe Trees: After each wear, stuff your sneakers with cedar shoe trees or a pair of rolled-up socks to help retain their shape and absorb moisture from the inside.
          • Avoid Creasing: When you're not wearing them, keep your Hibacci sneakers in their original shape to avoid unwanted creases and bends in the leather.

          Dry Carefully

            • If your Hibacci’s get wet, avoid placing them near direct heat (like a heater or radiator) to dry. This can cause the leather to shrink or crack. Instead, stuff them with newspaper or use a shoe dryer to absorb moisture naturally.

            Store Them Properly

              • Avoid Overcrowding: Store your Hibacci’s in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid piling shoes on top of each other, as this can cause them to lose their shape.
              • Dust Bags: If you're not using them for a while, store your Hibacci sneakers in a dust bag to prevent dust buildup and protect the surface from scratches.

              Avoid Over-Wearing Them

                • Hibacci sneakers are durable, but wearing them too often without giving them a rest can cause the leather to wear out prematurely. Try to rotate between different pairs to extend their lifespan.

                Handle Stains Carefully

                  • For scuff marks or stains, gently rub the area with a soft eraser or a bit of white vinegar. For tougher stains, you can lightly sand the area with very fine sandpaper (be cautious not to damage the leather).

Taking care of your leather sneakers doesn't require a lot of time or effort, but it does make a huge difference in how long they last and how good they look. Keeping them clean, conditioned, and protected from the elements will ensure they stay in great shape for years to come!
